Lord Yakota is a character in The Wheel of Time television series portrayed by Amar Chadha-Patel.

Early life[]

Lord Yakota was born to Shienaran nobility. He joined the retinue of Lord Agelmar Jagad in Fal Dara, and became acquainted with Lan Mandragoran, the uncrowned king of Malkier, during his time in the city.[1]

Season 1[]

Lord Yakota is present with Uno Nomesta and Lord Agelmar's other soldiers in the keep when Lan returns to the city with Moiraine Damodred, Rand al'Thor, Perrin Aybara, Egwene al'Vere, and Nynaeve al'Meara. He greets Lan with the honorific "Dai Shan" and respectfully welcomes him back to Fal Dara on behalf of Lord Agelmar.[1]

After a large wave of Shadowspawn threatens to pour out of Tarwin's Gap and attack the city, many of the city's men ride to the fortification with Lord Agelmar to defend the city. Yakota and Uno stay behind to unearth the Horn of Valere from its secret hiding place, and are joined by Perrin. However, Yakota, Uno, and Loial are attacked by the Darkfriend Padan Fain, who stabs them with a ruby-hilted dagger from Shadar Logoth before stealing the Horn.[2]

Changes from the book series[]

Lord Yakota does not appear in the book series. It was reported that originally, Amar Chadha-Patel was cast as Ingtar Shinowa, but could not return to Season 2 due to being cast in a leading role on the Disney+ show Willow, and thus the original Ingtar was changed to Lord Yakota in Season 1.[3] The name is possibly inspired by Kayen Yokata Booklink.svg (book spoilers!), the Lord of Fal Eisen Booklink.svg (book spoilers!).
