Brandelwyn "Bran" al'Vere is a character in The Wheel of Time television series portrayed by Michael Tuahine.

Bran is the husband of Marin al'Vere and the father of Egwene. His family owns the Winespring Inn.[1]

History[]

Early life[]

Bran is the husband of Marin al'Vere and the father of Egwene. The family owns the Winespring Inn in Emond's Field, and their profession makes them one of the wealthiest in the Two Rivers. The family could always afford many more comforts and privileges than other families, and they lived in relative luxury.[2]

Activities[]

Season 1[]

Bran is tending the Winespring Inn in the morning and afternoon of Winternight, while his wife and daughter are with the Women's Circle for Egwene's ceremony. When Tam al'Thor arrives, he jokes to the man that the Coplins and Congars were worried that they might be without apple brandy on Bel Tine, as they look at the cheerful families happily drinking in the inn.

When Egwene returns from her ceremony, Bran goes to his daughter, and lovingly congratulates her, having been worried that something would go wrong. He jokingly tells her that they are "losing a coin for every empty hand", though Daise Conger takes the lead and tells Egwene that should drink with the women for the night.

After Moiraine Damodred and Lan Mandragoran appear at the Winespring Inn, Bran, Marin, and Tam discuss the presence of an Aes Sedai in the Two Rivers. When Tam notes that Aes Sedai do not fight wars such as the rumored conflicts across the land, Bran suggests that Moiraine can enjoy Bel Tine with them tomorrow, like the rest of the village.

During the celebrations the following day, a horde of Shadowspawn begin to attack. Bran's family survives, though Moiraine takes Egwene with her on the way to the White Tower, believing that she may be the Dragon Reborn.[1]

Relationships[]

Bran loves his daughter Egwene, and was greatly worried about her during her initiation into the Women's Circle. It warms his heart to see her at the inn after her ceremony.

Physical appearance[]

Bran al'Vere is a man with medium-dark skin. He has mid-length dark brown hair, and a beard of the same color.
